How to make quiet or muffled movie dialogue clearer on a Mac

Voices too quiet, music too loud? Isolate the dialogue with AI, bring speech forward and even out the loudness — with the picture untouched.

“The music is too loud and I can't hear what they're saying” is one of the most common complaints about films, from old classics to modern blockbusters. The cause is usually the mix: dialogue sits under music and effects, or the recording itself is muffled and noisy.

Step by step

  1. Open the movie in AI Sound Restore Pro.
  2. Choose Dialogue Isolation AI. It separates the voices from music, effects and noise. The Background slider sets how much of the rest stays — keep some for atmosphere.
  3. Listen while it plays. Switch between Original and Restored at any moment to compare.
  4. Export a 10-second test clip of a difficult scene before doing the whole film.
  5. Export the movie. The picture is copied untouched into a new MP4 or MKV; keep the original sound as a second track if you like.

Why it works

Turning up the volume makes music louder too. Separating speech from everything else lets you raise the voices on their own. The loudness step then brings the whole film to a consistent broadcast level (EBU R128), so you don't reach for the remote between scenes.
